Who We Are

Our Mission

Wider Path Home Foundation is grounded in responding to America’s history of restricting access to safe, quality, and affordable land, housing, and other essential sustainable resources for African Americans and those facing a similar plight. Because of this history, our mission is to bring housing industry leaders together to support affordable housing through education, community development, and down payment assistance.

We network with the housing industry and other industry partners to fill in needed supports for local community development that advance housing equity, affordability, and stability.

Our Vision

This foundation is inspired by our desire to live out the teachings of Jesus Christ by being devoted to one another in love (Romans 12:10), loving our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31), seeking the good of others (1 Corinthians 10:24), and advocating alongside those who are overcoming systemic inequities (Isaiah 1:17).

These teachings support all of us in processing how to use our unique spiritual, intellectual, or material wealth and privileges to serve and improve the lives and opportunities of our neighbors.

Our Values

Our community development efforts align with the plight of those overcoming generations of injustice set in motion by the housing industry.

We bring housing industry sectors together to advance a spirit of unconditional love, grace, generosity, racial reconciliation, service to all, respect for all faiths and cultures, and humble learning with those who have been overcoming injustices for generations how to apply resources strategically to expand equal opportunity.

Our community development is centered in learning the needed supports, resources, advocacy, and solutions to affordable housing with and from those most impacted by housing injustices.

We value our contributors and partners who come from many backgrounds and welcome people from all faiths, beliefs, fields, and areas of expertise who align with this spirit of loving and respectful service to join us in the building of Wider Path and the work of advancing community development and affordable housing.

The path to homeownership has been too narrow for too long for black and brown people. Wider Path is committed to widening that path by embracing black and brown communities and bringing the needed resources crucial to securing a home. Security is essential for human flourishing, and the home provides a stable place for individuals and families to foster emotional, physical, and financial security.
